Chromosome rearrangement: humans carry one chromosome less than primates; 2 small chromosomes fused to one large chromosome (#2 in human)
Chromosome duplication - Polyploidization:
- genome duplication in one species
- hybridization of two different species followed by genome duplication
Chromosome number must be multiple of 2 to allow sexual reproduction (chromosome distribution during meiosis needs even number)
Uneven polyploid species (banana): only asexual reproduction
